I've never used Collaborate before... How do i get started.
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is a web conferencing/webinar platform designed for use in online teaching. In a Collaborate virtual classroom, you can present Powerpoint slides, share your screen and write on a whiteboard. You can even split your class into groups for breakout sessions.
Within the Blackboard system, Collaborate ultra is a 'tool' and can be found in the course tools area of the Blackboard site of each module you teach.
Below are an overview diagram* of the Blackboard Collaborate environment, a template email that you can use to send to your students to help them access your Collaborate classroom and a single 'holding' Powerpoint slide that you can use at the start of a session.

* Ensuring a good experience *
The webinar will take place in a Blackboard Collaborate™ virtual classroom. You will need to make sure you have a good internet connection, your computer speakers are turned on or headphones are plugged in as audio will be via VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). A bit like skype.
* Browser based *
The webinar will be hosted in a browser window (no additional software needed). We recommend using Chrome™ for the best experience. Please check you have the latest version if not you may need to update it.
* Join Early *
If you can, join a session early and get to know your way around. You can then also set up your audio and video.
